Who is esteban the guitar player

He has produced some 26 musical CDs. At 72, Stephen Paul, better known by his international guitarist fame as Esteban, is a charming host for his recently reopened Prescott businesses in Bashford Courts, Arizona Earth and Relaxing Foot Spa, where on a Wednesday morning music from his 26 CDs played softly in the background.

Adding Prescott entrepreneur to his resume as a world-renowned Spanish classic guitarist is something Esteban sees as a natural extension of his soul-soothing music. His two other children, Stephanie and Ben, play the cello and the trumpet and bass guitar, respectively.

The entire family played together on a European tour several years ago, Esteban said. Joy remains a regular member of his band that includes drummer Joe Morris and keyboard player Raul Yanez. A maternal uncle introduced young Stephen — Esteban is Spanish for Stephen — to the power of music when he was 5 years old.

With his first guitar, young Stephen found his life calling. After graduation, he headed to Los Angeles to study and in ended up in Spain studying off and on for five years with the Spanish classical guitar master, Andres Segovia. In , at age 32, Esteban returned to the United States. He said he was ready to launch his career. He was the guy that kind of started that back in, like, This is when he started this whole thing of teaching and playing Spanish guitar so that people could actually hear it.

Otherwise, the only way you could hear it is to have 10 to 15 people near you. Esteban continues to be a teacher and a student of his craft. Esteban said he paid his five employees at Arizona Earth and Relaxing Foot Spa during the business closure from March until the end of May.

Arizona Earth sells unusual items ranging from hand-carved wooden puzzles to geodes, while Relaxing Foot Spa focuses on relieving stress and pain. Both businesses have applied for loans through the U. Small Business Administration. Please tell me when in where you will be playing this summer.

I have family in Colorado that want to come down in here you but they need to make plans soon. Please let me know when you will be performing in Prescott or Sedona.

The concensus is also that his claims of being a protege of Segovia are greatly exaggerated. The guy's real name is Stephen Paul, and he's originally from here in Arizona, although I don't know where he makes his home now. Esteban is a mythical beast, similar to a Pegasus or a Griffin. In Greek mythology, he was actually the god of many things, including fiscal responsibility, nylon, cardboard, shop-at-home convenience, and, to a lesser extent, sharks and the jumping thereof. Until recently, none were successful at taming the god-beast that is Esteban, until Home Shopping Network Executives lured him with feasts of berries and illogically satisfied customers.

But seriously To me though he's definitely a sell-out to the guitar community for putting his name on utter garbage. But he does make a great Geico commercial. Hi FP He is a good guitarist, he seems to love his daughter who is a pretty good violinist. Some resent him selling inexpensive guitars, and they are pretty poorly made. I don't resent him for finding an idea that people are buying. They have the opportunity to return defective instruments within a specified time.

He had a pretty good night on Letterman sitting in with the band for the evening a week or so ago. He is the butt of many jokes People like to have somebody to look down upon and say awful things about Just because you've argued someone into silence doesn't mean you have convinced them. All I know is that he has good news, because he just saved a bunch on his car insurance.

I saw him the other night on Homeshopping just flipping through to another channel. I stopped to see what he was up to. He sold like or so in like 20 minutes. If you run the numbers, it comes out to like a quarter of a million bucks. Hard to take anyone generating that much revenue as a joke. He is big business and is raking it in.

He actually came off as secenre and looks like he loves playing music and the guitar. Hard for me to criticize the guy. I would love to be as sucessful as he is and as good of a player as he is. I do think you can buy a better instrument for the same money by going to the local guitar store, but hey, it's a free country and there are many out there who are probably delighted with their Estebon guitars.

More than anyone should want to know about the man, the myth, the huckster. Say what you want about him, but he plays way better than I do. He has figured out a way to use his musical skills, his persona and mass media, to make money.

And he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously, ala the Geico commercials. I'll pass on his guitars though. Herb Hunter. He's supposed to be a huckster that has misrepresented his guitar training with Segovia. I don't think the people that buy his recordings care about who is teacher was and now that he's successful he would be well advised to stop bringing up his alleged connection to Segovia. He's the butt of a lot jokes and ridicule.

While I don't condone misleading the public as it is purported he has, I can't help but feel sorry for anyone with a passion for the guitar who as been physically injured, especially by a drunk driver, to the extent that it has adversely affected his ability to play. Furthermore, he hasn't let his handicaped left hand stop him from playing and being successful. Last edited by Herb Hunter; at PM. Reason: Added a final sentence. As the links and bios state, he is a. He was "spotted" by Joy Magnano, of Home Shopping Network," and turned him into an info-mercial star.

I believe the main diss about him is 1.
