This post — which is updated regularly — lists all the major UK competition websites — good and bad. When people take up comping, their first instinct is to search Google for competitions.

Search results will take them to websites and adverts tempting them with fabulous cash and holiday prizes. They sign up, get bombarded with spam emails — and lose all enthusiasm for the hobby! The prizes are genuine, but the competitions themselves will be featured across many websites and get hundreds of thousands of entries.

You should also set up a new email address to use only for competitions I recommend Gmail — and have a good read of my Get Started guide for more advice. The sites listed below are funded by paid links and advertising, but can be a good resource for comps.

Once you become aware of the spam-generating sites see list further down , you should be able to quickly spot and skip the adverts and links while comping.

These websites host their own giveaways and also list their winners — these websites do feature ads, so be careful to avoid clicking on any ads that link to the spam-generating sites in the list further down this post! Most UK magazine competitions are hosted online — you can enter each prize draw every day to increase your chance of winning, and will need to register and sign in for each different website.

Some prize draws feature across multiple magazine websites, and you can enter on every one. Watch out for the tick boxes to opt in for further information — avoid where possible! These prize draws are time consuming, involve lots of adverts and sponsorship, and the chance of winning is low.

I recommend you only get involved if you have lots of spare comping time on your hands, and focus on the prizes you really want! Find out more and get lots of tips in my guide to Click To Win Competitions. Here are some other subscription-based competition sites you can trust:. There are also a lot of websites that charge you to enter prize draws and competitions. The prizes are genuine but please think carefully before spending money on these sites as it can be addictive.

The Bauer group has a similar paid entry platform in the form of Prize Jar. See my post How to win radio competitions for tips on winning radio comps without spending lots of money! The sites listed below do have genuine prizes, but with a tiny chance of winning. If you tick the boxes when entering prize draws, they will generate spam email, junk mail and phone calls, and in my opinion are a waste of your time. Tags: beginners. Hi Di! Great article. I have recently started my own Raffle website.

It has taken a lot of work registering the business, sorting legal documents, making everything legal and legit, terms and conditions, privacy policies etc etc etc. I find it particularly frustrating that all the scams and dodgy sites out there make it difficult for the genuine sites to get noticed. There are so many now that many of us just get looked over as another iffy business or money making machine.

Can you suggest ways of promoting my site to the right sort of people? Great article and I hope your followers avoid the bad boys. Kind Regards Chris. Thanks for the message Chris. Hi Di. Thanks for the reply. I totally understand your reasoning and respect your views. It gets us that have gone through the correct process a bad name. I have free Raffles and give away a lot of free credit.

So in my humble opinion it is down to the user to decide whether it is worth using my site or not. Not all pay-to-enter Raffle websites are the same in their approach. Thanks again for the reply and I hope your readers win plenty!

You have a great view of comp sites. Take care Chrid. Hi Di, I have visited the Loquax site and in their house competition section I have been directed to Raffall the competition app as I want to enter the Donegal house raffle via the free route.

Fantastic bit of information, thank you! Now I know what sites to avoid and have a decent list of genuine sites to try out. Thanks again. Can I trust that site? Thanks so much for this useful advice Di. I do try and avoid the ones you have listed as they ask too many personal details but its really good to have this verified by you. I do most of my comps via Prizefinder having moved from Loquax years ago and find them fine as long as you ignore the offers type comps as in your list which are pretty obvious anyway.

A really good online competition website is MonstaGiveaways!!! Many years ago I entered competitions by something called London Calling. They had a group of similar competitions and were constantly emailing me to do more. They were very, very difficult to unsubscribe from as they ignored their own unsubscribe button, and had a lot of alias email addresses, and years later I am still getting some horrible spam emails that I think were because I gave London Calling my email address.

Thanks for the comment Yannis — feel free to email me about your site at di superlucky. Fantastic advice, thank you Di! I used to do them when they were all postcard only comps and you had to pay 19p for the stamp!

We shall see! Thankyou xx. This one? Uk deals and giveaways always have good giveaways on their Facebook page and they have them on their website. It only has a couple of giveaways, which are their own and link to their Facebook page. I was looking for a cheap hobby to keep me occupied and I think I may have just found it.

Thanks for all the advice and tips. Kerry xxx. Good luck Kerry! I came across prizemaster. What do you think? I cant access their site for some reason? I woud be grateful for any information thanks. Hi Di, please delete if not appropriate, but these two links might be useful for your article. There is a thriving community of compers there and anyone is welcome to join and contribute competitions that they find.

Have you ever won anything Janice? It appears the information is sold to the third parties as you then get a lot of sales promotions. I only do their genuine surveys. They show in your inbox as surveys. When you accumulate enough points you can redeem them for Paypal or certain shopping outlets. One of the choices is Coles so I use mine to buy my groceries.
